The opportunity begins before the fibre is laid

Nigeria’s Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth initiative—Project BRIDGE—is estimated at US$2 billion. In April 2026, the government invited private-sector investors to prequalify. The AfDB approved a US$200 million loan within an US$800 million sovereign-financing package, while the structure targets further private capital.

The programme aims to expand the national fibre backbone. Its commercial ecosystem includes network construction, equipment, data centres, rights-of-way, power, cybersecurity, operations, professional services and regional connectivity.

Capital Position

Government materials describe an US$800 million sovereign package within the US$2 billion programme. AfDB accounts for US$200 million of that package. The remaining programme value requires private and additional institutional capital, making the investor-selection process a critical proof point.
